Thanks messenger:
I hate to not know something my active family knows and suggests that I would know about "if I was going to the meetings" as my brother says.

i thought i would break the suspense and tell everyone what the new book is going to be at the district convention.
i can't believe that anyone has not brought it out yet.
are you ready?

Hi all:
I previously posted the question:
Am I to understand there is an Isaiah Book 1?
I realize that it may sound like I'm joking, but I'm really serious. I'd like to know: Is there an Isaiah Book 1 that I don't know about?

i, along with many others here, saw on the wt official website, in the faqs section, their answer to the question "do jw's shun former memebers?"..
we've posted many comments on their response on various threads, such as on qwerty's topic "wt-faq on shunning--" just yesterday.. this morning i went to that site to copy it, and it seems to be gone....unless i'm not awake yet.. is it gone or did i somehow miss it?.
also....i did a 'search' on their official site, on the word "shunning" ... result was "no results" so i changed it to "disfellowshipping" and the article on "child custody" came back as the only reference.
Hi LDH:
Thanks for the suggestion about printing out the info and not just depending on bookmarking favourites. I went back to check some of mine and had to delete them because the page or site was completely gone. I'm going to spend some time this afternoon printing out what I don't want to lose.
A friend of mine started a binder on info he wants to keep. Now he has a separate one just for blood info and one for 607 info and I guess now he could start another whole one on the molestation issue with so much coming out about it.
Thanks....

PS somebody: just noticed your last post. I had my coffee and I like your suggestion too!
PS to LDH: I just thought of something. I'll ask my friend to check his binder to see if he has what you're looking for on the info on which of the 8 components were accepted.

while the society have certainly printed much regrettable material i believe it is fair to admit that there was fine material too as was noted by other posters in different threads almost all of us were initially attracted to jws and i trust it often was because of good stuff printed.. one quote from the commentary on the letter of james i found appealing:.
discussing james 3:17 the book says:.
the wisdom from above makes a person reasonable, yielding, moderate or forbearing, not fanatical in his zeal .
Hi Mommie Dark:
I checked 'Crisis of Conscience' as I remember reading about the writing of the 'Comm. on James' there.
Ray Franz's part in the Commentary of James was that he was assigned by Fred Franz to oversee the project's development. It was written by Ed Dunlap who also was df'd (at 72 years of age) about a year after Ray and his wife left Borg.
He also was a very Bible-knowledgeable man who loved presenting the Bible teachings in an honest and straight-forward way...no doublespeak.

Fred Franz objected to several areas of Ed Dunlaps honest explanation of James
i've been sitting here a little while lurking about and reading posts...and.
forcing myself not to post to several threads that i know would get me.
i have a comment that i have to make though, and i hope that.
Hi Esmeralda:
I totally understand what you're feeling...my first thought when I read your post was..."are you reading my mind?"
I noticed the different atmosphere here from H20 when I first started lurking and stayed here, only to also notice the changes again in one month....what with many more new ones and the addition of trouble-makers and 'trolls'. That unsettled me too in my stage of leaving.
Like jezebel influence, I was afraid of making the wrong impression but I too need this.
Like Hippikon, I was attracted to the intellect here but also to the overwhelming kindness and caring expressed for new ones. I can tell you I practically broke out in a sweat trying to get through posting my first message. But for the most part, I have been made to feel welcome and encouraged by posters like you and many others like Mommy, somebody, Waiting, Tina, JT, Jst2laws, ZazuWitts, larc, RedHorseWoman, Ozzie, LoneWolf, stephenw20 just to name a few. (I know there's many more longtime posters and new ones that contribute so much here, but just too many to mention them all)
I started out this morning in a silly, giddy mood posting here only to
end up at the bottom of the rollarcoaster ride tonight. But that's why I need this place, to hear from posters like you and so many others to keep me going.
As for the ones who have the immature need make themselves appear big by making trouble, well there's more than enough mature, wise, ones good with words, that can put them in their place.
Even now before I finish this post, I look back at what else has been said from rest who have replied here and it already makes me feel better.
You have such a better way with words than I do, so please understand you're appreciated and needed here. The boards just changing, not getting crowded.

PS Hippikon...Happy "Masters" degree

from what i can see this site is no joke... thought you'd all get a kick out of it...and we thought the wts's view of women can be suppressive.. womens role in the bible quiz.

Hi all!
Don't worry...I figured that out too by my second visit there..
But it's sillyness still makes me laugh...I thought some would find it funny too. The mental pictures are just too funny for words..especially women who have experienced the heavy hand of men who think we should be seen and not heard. The thought of being banished to piddle in the fields just tickles me silly...

I just went back to look at your suggestions. I shouldn't have...now I have to be let loose in the fields.
Oh no....now the neighbours heard me laughing and think I've gone off my rocker. !!!!!

Women’s Role in the Bible Quiz
http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0301/roleofwomen.html
A wrong answer gives this message: "WRONG! You unsaved Moron"
A right answer says: "Glory to God! Correct"
Now this next sight made my sides sore from laughing so much. I’ve still got tears rolling down my face.
Warning: Don’t read these sites while sipping a coffee or eating…laughter could make you choke
The article is entitled "Farmers Use Menstruating Women to Fertilize Crops"
http://www.landoverbaptist.org/news0401/filthyfemales.html
I love the suggestion
we were going to just let these females loose in the woods behind Mrs. Hawthorne's farm.
Sorry people I’m convulsing with a fit of the giggles right now from the mental picture I have of all of this. I won't be right all day.

****PS: I came back to edit this to clarify right at the beginning of this thread, that this is a 'tongue in cheek' site poking fun at Baptist's but when you think of it, it could be at other religions too who take the Bible quite literally.
The trouble with this site is, their monthly records of emails sent to them show that many people take this site seriously and either praise them or berate them for their articles.
Nevertheless....it still remains a good knee-slapper for those with a silly sense of humour.
